Ready Steady Publish

Ready Steady Publish In-Person

Getting your research published can feel like a confusing and challenging task. Not only do you need to consider the wide range of options available, there is also the thorny issue of journal quality to consider, as well as potential financial costs and implications for REF 2020.

The starting point for this interactive workshop is that where and when to publish should be a strategic decision and therefore require careful planning. We will encourage you to reflect on how you currently make publishing choices and explore ways that you can plan you publishing strategy even before you start writing up your research. We will look at how being proactive about publishing can increase your chances of getting your work ‘out there’. We will also consider journal and article-based metrics and discuss the importance of both qualitative and quantitative data for deciding where to publish. Finally, we will look at alternative places to publish your work and the implications of Open Access and the REF.

This workshop is relevant for both unpublished and published researchers who want to ensure that their approach to publishing is serving them well.
