Escape rooms and Simulations: Digital teaching and learning practice

Escape rooms and Simulations: Digital teaching and learning practice Online

Escape rooms in Onenote: with Rachelle O’Brien University of Durham

Rachelle is a Senior Digital Learning Designer who has been working in different simple ways to implement the idea of escape rooms into online learning practice at the university. Microsoft OneNote is a flexible tool that can be used in a variety of ways with staff and students.

Simulations in Pharmacy: with Jonathan Davies LJMU (teaching award winner 2020)

Jonny will be talking about the virtual simulation programme that we’ve been integrating into Mpharm this year (https://www.pcs.ai/spark.html (Links to an external site.)) have formed the basis of what we’ve called ‘Experiential Learning Days’ for the final year pharmacy students. This is where students are put in the role of a pharmacist, and asked to work through a series of activities.  Essentially, trying to find ways for pharmacy students to experience work-based learning, make decisions etc, without actually being in the workplace because of COVID.  They have fitted in a few tricks from serious games/escape rooms (codes, passwords to gatekeep progress etc) and explored ways to try and make asynchronous activities feel synchronous (students being required to record voicemails for patients for instance)
