Neurodiversity and hidden disability: sharing student support practices

Neurodiversity and hidden disability: sharing student support practices Online

It is recognised that neurodiverse students and those with hidden disabilities may approach education in a different way to their peers.  In some instances conventional approaches to teaching may constrain learning and act as a barrier to students achieving their potential.  This session will be an opportunity to consider how academic practices can be developed to better support students.  In the session, you will hear outcomes from two Curriculum Enhancement Internship projects in this area:

  • Designing Assessment for Neurodiverse Students

Sian Dunne, School of Civil Engineering and the Built Environment

  • Hidden Disabilities and Online Learning: How can we make blended teaching more inclusive?

Stewart Chidlow, School of Computer Science and Mathematics

Both projects sought to better understand the needs of neurodiverse students and those with other hidden disabilities, and have identified ways in which the learning environment can be made more inclusive.

This event will be held online via MSTeams.  The link to join the meeting will be shared closer to the time of the event.

Hosted by the Teaching and Learning Academy, this seminar will be delivered by Sian Dunne, School of Civil Engineering and the Built Environment, and Dr Stewart Chidlow, School of Computer Science and Mathematics.
