Northern Irish Student Experience Event In-Person
LJMU is committed to providing an excellent and inclusive learning environment for all students. Northern Irish students make up 8% of the student population at LJMU yet we know that this group of students face particular challenges that often go undetected. With lower continuation and attainment rates, it is essential that we explore the barriers and achievements of Northern Irish students across the student journey.
Please join us for lunch and discussion on this important topic.
The event will bring together speakers from four areas:
- Student Recruitment and Outreach, including representation from Northern Regional College based at Newtonabbey Campus. With a focus on prospective students concerns and challenges.
- Student Money, exploring the high number of hardship awards made to Northern Irish students and the impact this has for these students.
- Faculty research into the experiences of Northern Irish students studying Criminology.
- JMSU, who will share the findings of recent focus groups with Norther Irish students.
Discussion will be incorporated throughout the event with opportunities to inform the future direction of support for Norther Irish students.
This event will be held on campus in the Student Life Building, room location will be supplied 24 hours prior to the event starting.
This session will be hosted by the Teaching and Learning Academy.
