'The Journey to Becoming Me' (Trans Awareness)- Workshop

Liverpool John Moores University is proud to be working in partnership with motivational transgender speaker, Christian Owens from Gender Space in order to provide staff and students with the opportunity to engage in a two hour 'The Jouney to Becoming Me' Workshop that focuses on the lived experience of a gay trans male. 

The session aims to address such subjects as; trans awarness & acceptance, pronouns, and a safe spce to discuss terminology, in order to learn how to interact positively with trans or non-binary people.

Workshop Dates/Times: 

•  Tuesday 15 November 2022   |    16:00-18:00  

•  Wednesday 16 November 2022   |     16:00-18:00

This opportunity is FREE and open to LJMU/JMSU staff - Places are limited and can be booked, using the registration link provided. 

Trans Awareness Workshop 

How does it look like to interact positively with non-binary and trans people? How are we supporting someone on thier own personal journey?

Over 2 hours, we explore how pronouns are important, an overview of the ever-changing language to provide an awareness and be able to talk comfotably on the topic of gender identitiy.  

Aims Of The Workshop:

• To utlise Christian's own lived experience as a gay trans male to help the audience to understand, empathise and gain a greater understanding of the journey of transisition. 

• Provide an opportunity for participants to experience positive ways to enable conversations about gender identity with colleagues and students.

• Explore the ever-changing language of gender identity

• Consider what organisations, teams and individuals can do to create space for conversations about gender identity.
