RAISE Curriculum for wellbeing session

RAISE Curriculum for wellbeing session In-Person

There is increasing concern across UK Higher Education of the impact that university studies may have on students' mental health and wellbeing.  Increasing levels of debt, the cost-of-living crisis and the ongoing impact of Covid, alongside a social and political atmosphere that is generally hostile to the younger generation, can result in many students feeling overwhelmed by the added pressures of university workload and assessment deadlines.  In this environment, educators are increasingly looking at how the development and delivery of the curriculum may contribute to the problem or provide a route to a solution. This RAISE Special Interest Group will bring together university staff and students to explore the concept of a curriculum for well-being.  In other words, the reconstruction of the curriculum into a compassionate and supportive space for students.

Such as the importance of this topic, that we want to manage things a little differently.  So, the theme will be explored over two meetings of the Special Interest Group. The first will be an in-person meeting hosted by Liverpool John Moores University.  This will take a workshop format to encourage discussion and debate about a topic that has received relatively little attention. Discussions will inform a follow-up, online session to advance and refined our thinking.

  •  In person meeting - 20th of May 2024 between 12.30pm to 5.00pm. Liverpool John Moores University, City Centre Liverpool.  Lunch will be provided.
  •  Online session - 1st October 2024 between 4.00pm and 5.30pm. Registration details tbc.

We encourage staff and students to attend either or both sessions.  Numbers for the in-person meeting are limited, so early booking is advised.
