Teaching Insights: What does an outstanding student experience look like, and how will we know when we have achieved this? In-Person

Higher Education is subject to a range of metrics that measure the quality of the student experience. Indeed, achieving an outstanding student experience is an ongoing and dynamic process that necessitates a commitment to continuous improvement, listening to students, and adapting to evolving needs.

As an evidence-based regulator, the Office for Students use data sets to form quality judgements. As such, an outstanding student experience is one where students feel engaged, supported, and empowered throughout their educational journey.

In delivering an outstanding student experience at LJMU, our impact must reach far beyond the curriculum. Moreover, it must embrace all aspects of student life, academic success, personal growth, well-being, and fostering a sense of belonging.

This seminar seeks to challenge current thinking on the range of factors contributing to delivery of an outstanding student experience. The seminar will share case studies and literature on how institutions can, and must, go beyond regulatory measures to achieve strong student outcomes.

The session will conclude with a discussion on the identification of metrics beyond regulatory frameworks, and pose the question – How will we know when an outstanding student experience has been realised?

This event will be held in-person in the Tithebarn Building, Room 1.22

Hosted by the Teaching and Learning Academy, this event is part of the Teaching Insights series and will be led by Professor Phil Vickerman, Pro Vice Chancellor (Student Experience), PFHEA and National Teaching Fellow
